The eMO FEVER: joining the bandwagon

I came across a blog of my friend that posts about certain stuff about emo.
I can't help but get attracted to the post and the next thing I know here I am ranting about these emo stuff. So, I surfed the net and here are some few stuff I found.
History:
Apparently, emo comes from an unknown anagram in the mid 1980's. Some sources say the term emo described a subgenre of hardcore punk which originated in the Washington, D.C. music scene. It has gotten even more popular when the Indie fanatics coined the term. Now, emo is largely associated with hardcore punk.

What's your say with this "emo" thing?

The water cube; China's newest great wall!

It turns blue!!
it turns green!!
The water cube is indeed a site to behold!
Though not as vast as the China's great wall which can be viewed from the moon, the Water cube is just as promising!with its glowing color, one can help but turn one's head as oe passes by this great modern day architectural wonder. Its edge is the innovative use of energy efficient membranes in a translucent cell structure.

Also known as the National Aquatic Centre, the Water Cube, lit up at night during the opening of the Good Luck Beijing 2008 Swimming China Open in Beijing, China last January 31, 2008.

Beijing Olympics: Bird's Nest now ready to be filled with "eggs"

The structural elements support each other and converge into a grid formation, just like a bird's nest with interlocking branches and twigs.Beijing indeed gave a new definition in the word, Bird's nest

Designed by Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron, global engineering consultant
ARUP and China Architecture Design and Research Group, the bird's nest is indeed a site to behold.

42,000 tons of steel and hundreds of tons of concrete went into creating the main stadium for the 2008 Summer Olympics. The main body of the stadium is composed of 24 columns of trusses, which surround the bowl-shaped stands in the stadium.

some fast facts about the nest:

Name: Beijing Olympic Stadium
Scheduled inauguration: 2008
Building costs: $500 million
Capacity: 80,000 seats (100,000 during the Olympic games)

Communicating needs not be expensive

Just recently, my best friend together with her family migrated to Alberta, Canada. I felt so sad of the idea of us being oceans apart since I know the cost of long distance phone calls cost a lot these days. I assured myself I need not to worry since short messaging service is available but later on I discovered that most of the time it usually takes ages for me to receive and send messages. It really pisses me off. I browsed on the world wide web and looked for practical and reasonable sites which can help me in my communication problems because I really need to get through this friend of mine most of the time since most of her business transactions are left for me to handle. Thank goodness, I came across Tabrio. Com
This site is totally amazing!I bet that what they said in their ads are all true and these guys really heeded the plea of most of us, of how we wanted a better way to connect with the people we care about.

an apple a day, keeps the hope up at bay

"Hope is good for breakfast, but not necessarily for supper."

When we dream, we start with a vision. We look at an image, a successful image that is, of our lives transforming into a real yet fairytale like one.
Say for a runner, a runner might envision himself winning that ever coveted race.He d dreams, usually at the start of training for the race. He will keep this vision of himself first at the finish line when he is waking up early for his daily running exercises or maybe when he is disciplining himself to eat that right kind of diet to sustain his training. He is keeping his hopes up, as he massages tired ankles and weary knees, still refusing to give up on that vision of him winning the race. On the day of the race, there is no need for hope. What he needs is action!Action to master all the strength that he has and to to trust his race on the hope he has been keeping for so long. Thus, to communicate the vision is to live the vision especially on that one fateful racing day.
Hope is good for you to run the race, but Action is more important in winning it.
Yes, hope is good for breakfast but it ain't necessary for supper! What one needs for supper, is activity!

You might be wondering where this boggling yet inspiring quote came from.
Mort Zuckerman the keynote speaker at the Big Apple Awards quoted this. He has his own interpretation of this quotattion though so why don't you see it for yourself!Indulge and Take a look at this video!

it pays to be nosey

do you agree with me?
it really pays to be nosey...
i will tell you why, if you care to read my story.
one time I came across a friend of mine whom I have been desperately wanting to rub elbows with. I browsed over several websites but I still haven't got any traces of her. But when a write-up suggested about nosey-people.com, I just said, well, I haven't got anything to lose for being nosey. This is a website where people could have "small reunions" by just simply typing a relative or friends name. They can eve do background search for you!
wow!this site is really amazing!
They can even show you a list of people who might be looking for you!
cool, isnt it?
so whether it is your grade school friend who always bully you at the swing, your cheater boyfriend you have not get even with, or your dear professor who have taught you everything from a-z, nosey-people knows where exactly to find them.
what are you waiting for?hit that keys and start entering names only at nosey-people.com

team building

Last June 10, 2007, the officers met at Forest Hill, grabbing the opportunity of wahtever is left of their summer break.
There were four team building activities prepared. The first was called the Shuffle. The officers were asked to form a single line side by side at random, standing on a long piece of wood. The instruction was to authorize only one person to speak while the others were to keep silent. Then they had to rearrange themselves according to their age, with the oldest at the right end down to the youngest at the left end. This was to be done without talking and without stepping on the ground but maintaining to trade places while standing on the very long piece of wood. One facilitator was then asked to make sure that the rules were strictly implemented. The activity aimed to impact the officers on the importance of communication, coordination, subordination and following instructions. After which, a short debriefing session followed where each person was given the chance to share his feelings while the activity was going on, what values he learned in the course of such and how these could be applied in the organization.

As the officers planned the activities for the entire school year, the value of cohesion and camaraderie was realized. As such, before proceeding to plan the next activity to cater to the students’ needs, it was decided that a team building activity purposed to foster a good working relationship and unity among the officers was made.
The next activity was called Focus. Each officer was given a designated spot in the gym. There were 30 wet sponges that were to be transported from one end of the gym to the other. The person who held the sponges had to toss them one by one to the next person who was at least two spaces away from him. Each sponge had to pass through each person until the last person at the end of the gym gathered them together in a bucket. The goal was to transport all the sponges without letting them hit the ground. The tossing and catching from one person to the other had to be simultaneously. They were asked to formulate a plan for 10 minutes and then were given two chances to implement the plan. As the name of the activity states, focus was the primary skill to be developed. One had to keep his eyes on the sponge he was tossing and then throwing, leaving the others to do the same with their own sponge. Planning also played an important role in the implementation of the game. The debriefing session then followed.
The third activity was called Group Carry wherein one person was to lie flat on the floor while the rest carried him up until all the carriers’ hands were stretched upward. They were to turn 360 degrees then slowly lower the person carried back to his feet. All the officers were to be given a chance to be carried. The activity aimed to foster teamwork as one officer could not be carried by one person alone. There had to be a strategy in positioning the carriers on the heavier parts of the body as well as on how the carrying and turning would be done, too. Debriefing then followed.
The last activity was called the Trust Fall. One person is supposed to stand on a n elevated platform that is shoulder-high while the rest of the group would stand on the floor forming two lines with their arms linked with the arms of the person in front of them. With these linked arms serving as a “human net”, the person on the platform is supposed to drop like a log onto this “net”. Each person must have the opportunity to fall and to catch as well. This activity fosters the value of trust and trustworthiness. Trust for the person who is supposed to fall, because he would be laying his life at the mercy of his catchers. Trustworthiness, too, because as a catcher, one should not leave his post no matter how heavy the load may be, is this could be detrimental to the one who is falling.

We all had a blast!the activity was tiring yet very fulfilling. Indeed, it strengthened our unity as a team.I can truly say, we are geared for the entire school year.Way to go guys!
